We advise reading about their past project experience, customer reviews, certifications (e.g. RIBA accredited) and their availability to check construction work as it happens to avoid unexpected surprises that can cost you extra to fix later on.
Conceptual designs are created to illustrate the structure and it's features at a high-level and sometimes for marketing or funding purposes, whereas technical designs are detailed low-level designs that engineers use to start constructing structures.
This depends on the size of the project, your availability and the architect’s. The initial meeting is likely to be an hour or so, after which the architect will take measurements. It could be a couple of weeks after that before you receive any drawings.
